Dr Ifesinachi Okafor

Ifesinachi Okafor-Yarwood is a Doctorate student with the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London. Her research seeks to explore the human security (food, economic and environmental security) implications of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in the Gulf of Guinea and whether such impacts might threaten the national security of countries in the region, using social realities form Nigeria.

She has been an African Leadership Centre (ALC) Associate. Her most recent degree is an M.A. in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London. Okafor-Yarwood also has a B.A. in International Relations and Peace and Conflict Studies, from London Metropolitan University. Ifesinachi has over 3 years experience in the academic, research and NGO sector, and trained as a facilitator with the Three Faith Forum, United Kingdom.

She recently completed an assignment for the Transparency International, as an expert reviewer for its 2015/2016 Defence and Corruption Index. She is also published in peer-reviewed journals, with the most recent publication being on Guinea-Bissau–Senegal maritime boundary dispute.
