The African Leadership Centre (ALC) invites you to the final Africa Week Keynote with renowned Fashion Designer, Ituen Basi, and Professor Funmi Olonisakin on “Fashion as an interlocuter across disciplines, time, and spaces” taking place Wednesday 9 March 2022, 13:00 to 14:00 GMT
This event will have the two speakers in conversation about how Fashion and the Arts, more widely, serve as connectors across themes including history, culture, education, geographies and value with a focus on Africa in the world.

- Fashion Design (with her multi-award-winning label Ituen Basi): features in Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Elle (South Africa), Marie Claire (South Africa), Cosmopolitan (South Africa), Ebony (USA), Pride (UK); runway shows in Dakar, Milan, Paris, London, Vienna, Cape Town, Johannesburg (Mercedes Benz Designer of the Year, 2012); trade shows in Florence, Milan (Pitti SUPER Talents, with Vogue Italia)
Professor Funmi Olonisakin, is Vice President (Global Engagement) and Professor of Security, Leadership and Development at King’s.
She is a founding member of the African Leadership Centre, which aims to build the next generation of African scholars generating cutting edge knowledge for security and development in Africa; and was Director of the Conflict, Security and Development Group (CSDG) at King’s (2003 to 2013). Prior to this, she worked in the Office of the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict.
