Professor Funmi Olonisakin appointed as interim Vice President/Vice-Principal (International) King's College London


 
I am pleased to inform you that our very own and beloved Prof O', aka Funmi has been appointed as Acting Vice President/ Principal (International) of Kings College.

As the ALC we are extremely proud of her achievement on a professional and personal level. This recognition is testament to her continued commitment to developing and shaping young minds and future leaders as well as contributing to thought leadership on peace and security.

Dear colleague,

I am delighted to inform you that Professor Funmi Olonisakin will be our interim Vice President/Vice-Principal (International).

Funmi is Professor of Security, Leadership & Development at King’s and is also currently Vice Dean (International) in the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. She is the founding Director of the African Leadership Centre (ALC), and Programme Director of the ALC King’s College London MSc programmes on Security, Leadership and Society and MSc Leadership and Development.

In January 2015, Professor Olonisakin was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon, as one of seven members of the Advisory Group of Experts (AGE) on the Review of the UN Peacebuilding Architecture.
 
Funmi will take up her new position on Monday 3 April, when Dr Joanna Newman, our current Vice President/Vice-Principal (International), leaves her post.

It is with great sadness that all staff at the African Leadership Centre at King’s College London, along with those at our sister-centre in Nairobi, Kenya, morns the loss of Dr Abdul Raufu Mustapha.
